Evora

We started the day by watching Abby eat her own body weight in food. Travel seems to be good for her appetite. (For those of you keeping track, it has also been good for her bowel movements!) Seriously, she ate an egg, a croissant, 2 pieces of ham, 3 pieces of cheese, half an apple, hot chocolate, and juice. Just crazy.
We then spent the day touring Evora and had a great time. We saw some beautiful churches and a chapel made out of bones - that kind of creeped-out the kids. Lunch was great, complete with a bottle of wine and grilled squid. The squid was a hit with Abby but a miss with CJ.
We spent some time in the public gardens and CJ ran into (literally!) a peacock. He had just recovered from his surprise when we realized they were everywhere. There were peacocks wandering around loose all over the place in this park. The kids loved it.
We went to a children’s park so the big kid could play. Yes, I mean Chris! By midafternoon we were headed south towards the Algarve region. We hit several thunderstorms along the way and saw 2 rainbows in the space of 5 minutes, very cool. After a bit of mis-navigation we arrived in Villamoura around dinnertime. Villamoura is the resort town where Isabel Chiat’s parents have a vacation home. They have graciously let us use their house for a few days. It is lovely and the location is fantastic. We zipped over to Quartiera for dinner and were tucked in safe and sound at MIDNIGHT!
